ANGER MANAGEMENT: WWE No Mercy predictions Oct 18 - 05:24 pm EDT
Opinion by S_D
Now now now, don't get too excited there. My stance on ordering PPV's still has not changed since of last month's atrocity that was WWE Unforgiven. I still will not be ordering this show, however I probably will download it off of Usenet and do a review of it. The reason I haven't been doing TV reviews lately was because everytime I post a recap immediately after the show, I come up with more entertaining stuff I could have written. Then, once next week comes, I have forgotten the great idea(s). Anyways, let's get to it, from curtain jerker to main event:
SmackDown! Match
Dawn Marie vs. Torrie Wilson
Who gives a crap? Want to make this match more interesting? Make good old Mr. Wilson as the special guest referee. While we're at it, make Dennis Mitchell do a run in. Maybe then, and only then, would I care about this match. Seeing as how Torrie has won every T&A contest between these two, I'm looking for the ECW alumni to get the win here in their first straight wrestling match, perhaps with an assist from Mr. Wilson.
PREDICTION: Dawn Marie
RAW Match
WWE Women's Championship
Trish Stratus (c) vs. Victoria
At least this match has some sort of background to it, albeit very weak. Supposedly, Trish slept with the right people to get her WWE job, whereas Victoria had to work for it. Hey guys, remember the first time we ever saw Victoria? When she was one of The Godfather's HOs? Yeah, way to do your research WWE. Anyways, I could care less about this match as well. Just like RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff said once upon a hot summer Monday night in August, "Nobody cares about women's wrestling." I find it funny that WWE completely goes bonkers for their "awesome" cruiserweight division, yet no CW matches are on this show and two women's matches are. Whatever.
PREDICTION: Victoria wins the title
RAW Match
Rob Van Dam vs. Ric Flair
Man, The RAW team sure did a great job building up this match, didn't they? Flair costs RVD the World Title at Unforgiven, they meet in a tag match the next night, and then they have absolutely zero interaction with each other for about 2 weeks. Once again, way to go WWE. You sure know how to keep up with your stuff. Anyways, this match was added at the last minute, so I really don't care. I'm guessing that RVD will get the win here since Flair doesn't whine and complain about having to put over people, unlike RVD's last opponent.
PREDICTION: Rob Van Dam
RAW Match
RAW Tag Team Championship
Chris Jericho & Christian (c) vs. Booker T. & Goldust
Yet another match with little to no build up. The RAW Tag Titles have been traded around a lot more than those playboy pictures of the Brazillian women's soccer team on the internet. I guess the Booker\Jericho stuff on RAW is supposed to be the background for the match, but Christian and Goldust have had absolutely no part in this angle at all when it comes to having interaction with the feud. They are just Jericho's and Booker's lackeys, respectively. Going on the trend of WWE's idiocy when it comes to booking Booker T., I'm going out on the limb and predicting the Chris Connection retains.
PREDICTION: Chris Jericho & Christian retain the titles
SmackDown! Match
SmackDown! Tag Team Championship Tournament Final
Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle vs. Edge & Rey Mysterio
This match right here will, when looking at the rest of the card, undoubtedly pops up as the match of the night. This tournament and the inception of the SmackDown! Tag Team Championship is just another way to add legitimacy to the brand extension, which had no ounce of legitimacy when it started. This is how it should have been before they started the thing. But, better late than never I guess. I'm expecting an absolutely awesome match from these 4 shining stars on a very dusk WWE roster, with Angle and Benoit winning the belts and playing the role of the wacky tag champions who can't stand each other.
PREDICTION: Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle win the titles
RAW Match
RAW Championship\Intercontinental Championship Unification Match
Triple H (RAW) vs. Kane (I-C)
If you've been watching RAW for the past two weeks, you know darn well that this match has been built up. But, in a very very awful way. HHH reveals that Kane killed a girl named Katie Vick 10 years ago. Kane says it was an accident. HHH says Kane killed her by driving drunk and then had sex with her dead body. And yes, keep in mind, this is all building to a wrestling match. This is like Russo x10. We all know HHH is going to win the titles, because the whole reason the I-C Title is being eliminated is because of him and his i'm-the-best-ever attitude. And the fact that he screws the head writer. Well, ever since the abysmal period of time that was Albert's I-C Title reign in mid-2001, the I-C Title has been dying a slow death. Just another reason to fire Albert. HHH wins, because he's THE GAME!!!!!!!
PREDICTION: Triple H unifies the titles
SmackDown! match
SmackDown! Championship
Hell In A Cell Match
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. The Undertaker
Why is it that almost every main event title feud The Undertaker has been in this year has been incredibly boring? UT\Hogan - boring. UT\HHH - boring. And now, UT\Lesnar - boring. And the fact that this Hell in a Cell gimmick has been thrown into this match, this is on task of being the most boring HIAC match this side of WrestleMania 15. Anyways, it probably won't be boring, given this era of sick bumps. And who's going to take the sick bump in my opinion? Lesnar? Nope. Undertaker? Hah, that's funny. Paul Heyman? No, although he'd probably want to. No, it's going to be Matt Hardy: Version 1 to take the sick bump. Looks like Mattitude will be the only thing to save this match from the eternal pit of boredom and suck. Since UT is having a legit hand injury and needs surgery soon, I'm expecting Lesnar to get the the win here and to "brutalize" Undertaker to where he'll go off TV. Of course, when one talks about brutalizing The Undertaker, that means UT will have 95% of offense in the match, refuses to make his opponent look good and convincing, and his opponent will win by massive cheating and a fluke, all in one match! Gotta love that locker room leader. Lesnar wins against UT's will and hand.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar retains the title
Well, the absence of Mattitude and The Guerreros from the card of this PPV certainly takes even more shine off an already lackluster card. Looks like this PPV isn't going to help me convince to begin ordering PPVs again.
