ANGER MANAGEMENT: WWE Survivor Series 2002 Predictions Nov 15 - 10:58 pm EST

Opinion by S_D

First off, I want to apologize for not doing a recap on SmackDown! last night. I got caught up at a friend's house playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and didn't get home in time. And I had no tapes to record it to either. So, my bad.

So, with that out of the way, let's get to my picks for Sunday's Survivor Series pay per view offering.

World Heavyweight Championship
Elimination Chamber
Triple H (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Booker T. vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Kane vs. Shawn Michaels
Well, this one is just going be like the description I gave 10 Man Tag matches: It'll either be really good or really bad. This is going to be RAW's answer to Hell In A Cell, which I guess is now a SmackDown! exclusive. The interaction between all 6 parties has really, and unrightfully, been overshadowed by HBK and HHH's little feud. Hell, they've even done some promos for the Chamber featuring just HHH and HBK in them, with no mention at all of the other four. I really don't know if I can predict this one unbiasly, given 1 of the people in the match. If that 1 man were not in it, I would say that since Rob Van Dam has had the less beatings of the 6 men since the match was announced, RVD would be the one walking out of the Chamber as the new World Heavyweight Champion. But, I'm going to have to go with the cynical point of view, because until he proves to me other wise on PPV, there is no reason for me not to be.
Prediction: Triple H retains the World Title

WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. The Big Show
Nevermind the fact that there are way more deserving people on the SmackDown! roster for a WWE Title shot than Big Show is, because complaining won't change anything, even though it's fun. This match wasn't looking too good to begin with, but since the news came out of Lesnar cracking a rib in a house show match against Big Show last weekend, my spirits are even lower for this match. The cracked rib will really prohibit Lesnar even more from performing the already-tough feat of hitting the F5 on Big Show. However, I found it really odd that Lesnar destroyed (and I do mean destroyed) Big Show last Thursday so close the PPV. Normally, I would say that means Big Show is winning on Sunday, but I really really do not think WWE would be that stupid. So, unlike the last match, I will base my prediction on hope. A lot of people are guessing UT will return and attack Big Show, but I don't count on it.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar retains the WWE Title

WWE Tag Team Championship
Triple Threat Match
Edge & Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle vs. The Guerreros
Talk about a silver lining on a dark cloud. This PPV, no matter what J.R. and his Shill Report wants you to think, Survivor Series (barring one of those miracles HBK always talks about) is not going to be a solid show. A lot of the matches on this card were just added for the hell of it at the last minute and have not been developed at all. This feud which has given SmackDown!'s tag team division an ultimate rejuvenation has been indirectly been developing since around SummerSlam. I'm looking for this to be the payoff of The Super 6's interraction with each other for now and hopefully everyone will split off to bigger and better things in their respectful careers. In fact, I would like to see Edge be the next feed to Lesnar. This match has the definite possibilty of blowing away the incredible matches all 6 were involved in previously on both SmackDown! and PPV. In guessing that the only team here that hasn't gotten a taste of WWE gold yet, The Guerreros, will get the win in the Match of 2002.
Prediction: The Guerreros win the WWE Tag Titles

Elimination Table Match
Bubba Ray Dudley, Spike Dudley, & Jeff Hardy vs. 3 Minute Warning & Rico
Under regular rules, this match would be a perfect candidate for a stinker, but the table always adds an interesting element to anything that would normally be boring. This feud has been so boring and uneventful and poorly developed that I don't even know if I should call it a feud or not. 3 Minutes are one of the most boring, junkish tag teams out there. Now I know why they were designated for run ins for 2 months and how they got their name: Because going past 3 minutes gets these fat asses blown up and tired. Bubba Ray has been nothing to write home about since the brand extension, Spike has just been a crash test dummy, and don't even get me started on Jeff Hardy. Rico is the only guy in this bunch with a future and potential, but being laced as 3 Minute's manager is just a crime. It is for my like of Rico, that my prediction sways their way.
Prediction: 3 Minute Warning & Rico

World Women's Championship
Hardcore Rules
Trish Stratus (c) vs. Victoria
Another largely uneventful feud only made watchable by those pants Victoria wore on RAW. However, I must say that the very few times WWE has done a female hardcore match, they've delivered very nicely and have been nothing short of brutal. I do believe Trish was involved in the last one of these with Stephanie McMahon at No Way Out 2001 which was a very fun brawl to watch. However, I will be pissed off if this match is placed in the sub-main event like it was on No Mercy. Women's matches have no place whatsoever being the 2nd to last match on PPVs because nobody really cares about them. Going on the fact that Stratus went over last PPV, I'm going with the opposite here.
Prediction: Victoria wins the Women's Title

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Jamie Noble (c) vs. Kidman
This is one of those matches I was talking about earlier being thrown on for the hell of it at the last minute. I mean, what's supposed to make me buy a PPV when you add two matches that have meant absolutely nothing to the shows for the past month? Sure, this is a cruiserweight match, but WWE's version of "cruiserweight matches" are laced in there with that WWE Style of working matches, which effectively sucks everything that made WCW's cruiserweight matches fun to watch out of the formula. They just throw Kidman on a PPV once every 3 or 4 months when they need to get a CW champion over on PPV. Noble and Kidman fought on Vengeance with no build up, same story here. It's such a shame that this has become yet another undelivered promise of WWE to push a cruiserweight\light-heavyweight division. Since Kidman's job like I said has been jobber to the CW champion and because he got a pin on Noble on SmackDown!, I'm guessing the 5 month CW reign of Noble continues.
Prediction: Jamie Noble retains the Cruiserweight Title

Goldust & The Hurricane vs. Lance Storm & William Regal
Another matched added at the last minute. Who cares? Not Me.
Prediction: Lance Storm & William Regal

I'm guessing another non-built up match that no one will care about will be added to the show on Heat. The Chamber match and the WWE Tag Title matches will either make or break this show, as everything else seems like it's going to be pretty brutal.
