How does the Caremeter (headline popularity) work?

The caremeter is a score based on the number of clicks on a particular link by a unique IP address, weighted by how recently it was clicked, and how many links total have been clicked in the past 24 hours.

For example, if you click a headline right now, it'll receive a weight of 86400 (the number of seconds in a 24 hour period). As each second goes by, the weight decreases by one. After an hour, your click would only be worth 82800.

It also takes into account how many clicks total have been reported in that 24 hour period, and how popular they've been on average.

Don't take it too seriously. It's completely unscientific, and is just there to give you a general idea of what other people are finding interesting enough to look at.

Why do some headlines seem to move around? I read the story earlier in the day, but now it has a later time!

Some websites use the same URL for different stories, so when a story's headline is updated, we give it a new timestamp. The alternative is that some new stories might be buried in the past where you won't see them.

Do you have a wireless version?

Yes, we do! It's a WAP site located at http://wap.wrestlingdb.com/ and it should work with most phones. If it doesn't work for you, let us know, and we'll see what we can do.

Can I get a newsfeed?

The latest 10 headlines are available in a number of distribution formats, and aren't difficult to add to most
web sites. The only thing we ask is that you do not refresh the headlines more than every 30 minutes. If there's
another format you'd like us to support, let us know, and we'll see if we can add it.

An RDF format file is available at: www.wrestlingdb.com/feeds/wdb.rdf, and
a Netscape style RSS format file is available at: www.wrestlingdb.com/feeds/wdb.rss.
There are tools and scripts available in php, asp, perl and others to read and use these files.

A slightly easier, but less flexible, method involves using the following javascript code directly in your html:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.wrestlingdb.com/feeds/wdb.js"></script>
The headlines will appear on your page is a basic list format. You can wrap them in <ul></ul> or <ol></ol> along with a class/id to style them with CSS.

We've most recently added Klipfolio support. We're listed on Klipfarm, or you can add it directly with this Klip link.
