Last week's second hour of RAW finished at #7 behind SpongeBob SquarePants, Monk and the State of the Union, while the first hour missed the top 15. Several WWE DVD's hold spots in the top 10 sports DVD rentals including the Ric Flair Collection at #5. On today's Jim Rome radio show, The Rock said he'd be back for Wrestlemania XX, but that it would be his only WWE appearance this year. WWE is inviting Washington, DC area fans to their news conference at the National Press Club on Monday at 10am. Linda McMahon, Bradshaw, Shaniqua, and Layzie Bone of Bones Thugs-n-Harmony will be there to release a national voter issue paper covering the concerns of young adults. CNBC is scheduled to run a story on WWE on February 4 at 10pm. 1wrestling has speculation that other wrestlers might follow Spanky's lead and ask for early releases from WWE.

Kevin Nash was accidentally stabbed while filming a fight scene for Punisher, although he claims he didn't realize it when it happened. MTV.com has an article on Punisher which includes a small mention of Kevin Nash's role. Kevin Nash is also reportedly negotiating with Dreamstage Entertainment for a HUSTLE-2 appearance, likely with Scott Hall. Ivory will wrestle UPW Women's Champion Erica Porter on UPW's fifth anniversary show, which will includes Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

NWA TNA issued a preview for next week's PPV with Terry Funk/Sandman vs. The Gathering, Jeff Jarrett vs. ?, Insane Clown Posse vs. Glenn Gilbert/David Young, and El Leon vs. Abyss. Mike Tenay suffered a wrist injury last night while being handcuffed to a ring railing leaving him unable to move out of the way of a brawl between Erik Watts and Don Callis. Amazing Red hopes to return to the ring in March after ACL reconstruction surgery in October.

ESPN's Around the Horn talked about Brian Urlacher's TNA appearance with their panel expressing mixed reactions tothe appearance and his potential risk of injury. Chicago's channel 5 news also covered Brian Urlacher's TNA appearance although they reported it in a joking fashion. The Chicago Bears' new coaches seem less than pleased with Urlacher's involvement in wrestling saying "he's got to be careful and be smart." NWA TNA issued a press release about the appearance and offered a video news release to media outlets that wanted it.

Get in the Ring radio interviewed New Jack about the Dudley Boyz, Vince McMahon, Tazz, and New Jack's retirement. Voice of Wrestling interviewed Bob Holly about the Royal Rumble, Tough Enough, and Crash Holly. SLAM has a profile piece on Pat "Scott Chase" Murphy, an Ontario baker by day, and a part of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling on nights and weekends.

Afa Anoai's WXW announced some of the participants of the Wild Somoan Tag Team Cup Tournament which will take place on April 25 in Sciota, PA. Rick Steiner cancelled his appearance on SSCW's State of Pain show tomorrow in Clifton, NJ.

Billy Corgan, formerly of the Smashing Pumpkins and currently of Zwan, wrote about the Royal Rumble and wrestling in general in his January 26 message on his website. The Torch has a review of documentary The Backyard and says its worth a look.

New York State is considering a 4% tax on sports tickets, but exempts both boxing and wrestling. Wrestler Lester "Terry Tate" Speight will make a return to his Reebok commercial role as the "Office Linebacker" during Sunday's Super Bowl. Lionel Tate entered a guilty plea to charges of second-degree murder for the beating death of 6 year old Tiffany Eunick, which they claimed was inspired by wrestling.
